Learn Photography in Bangkok: See the City Like a Photographer 📸

4 min read

⚡ Quick answer: The best way to learn photography in Bangkok is to walk it with photographers. We are a group of Bangkok photographer friends who argue about every frame: where to stand, what to crop, how low to go. On the Photography Class with pros (6 hours, from $250) you learn it hands on, and on the Hidden Gems walk (from $129) you get tips along the way plus 80 to 100 edited photos. 📸

Confession: we are those people. The ones who stop in the middle of a lane, crouch down to knee height, squint at a doorway for two minutes and then say "no, wait, one step left." 😅 We have been hanging out and shooting Bangkok together for years, and every spot we take you to comes with a small debate about how to see it.

👀 What is the photographer’s perspective?

Most people photograph what a place is. A photographer photographs how it looks from one exact spot, in one exact light. That is the difference, and it is why two people standing at the same temple come home with completely different photos.

When we find a new spot, we do not just take a picture and leave. We talk about it:

  • 🖼️ How to frame it: through a doorway, between two stalls, under a hanging lantern

  • ✂️ How to crop it: what to leave out is often more important than what to put in

  • 📐 Where to stand: two steps left, knee height, or up on a step

  • ☀️ When to shoot: the same lane looks flat at noon and magical an hour before sunset

  • 🚶 Who to wait for: a monk, a bicycle, a cat, the one detail that makes the frame come alive

“As a professional photographer, he proactively identified the best subjects and backdrops to take ideal and authentic photos of us.” Cecilio Bizueque, Google review

📸 How do you learn photography in Bangkok with us?

You learn it the way we did: by walking, shooting, and talking about it at every stop. Five tips we share on almost every walk:

Tip

Try this

1️⃣ Change your height

Crouch low for temples, they suddenly look huge

2️⃣ Find a frame

Shoot through a door, a window or a gap in the leaves

3️⃣ Wait for life

Pick the spot first, then wait for someone to walk into it

4️⃣ Watch the light

Shade and late afternoon light are kinder than midday sun

5️⃣ Crop with your feet

Step closer before you zoom, and leave the clutter out

⭐ What guests who came to learn say
